A Purse To Die For

A PURSE TO DIE FOR by MELODIE CAMPBELL and CYNTHIA ST-PIERRE
PLOT: A television celebrity and fashionista Gina Monroe returns to her hometown to attend her grandmother's funeral. After the reading of the will didn't turn out well for some, the death itself becomes suspicious. Then a fashionable woman's dead body is found on their backyard. This brings the police in and another murder occurs.

Novellas, or chick lits, is like a commercial break from all the more serious books I usually read. They're just fun distractions that's sure to leave you feeling giddy or kilig (romantic thrill). And to be honest the cute and chic book covers is what sells it. Although I don't expect much from these kinds of books because they're feel good books and not cerebral, there are still those that leaves you less than amused. If you think the murders will revolve around the designer purse somehow, you're in for some disappointment.

I got this book for free and glad I did. This book is riddled with typos and sometimes the names get mixed up it's confusing. And one of the characters leave you wondering whether there will be some paranormal twist to this murder mystery. Somehow this book seem to have an identity crisis, it doesn't know whether it wants to go paranormal or detective in solving the crimes.

VERDICT: DITCH IT!

Start Off With These Chinese & Taiwanese Dramas

Even before Kdramas, I was already so into Hong Kong movies that I remember writing all the movies I’ve seen on a notebook, which I’ve since lost. Jackie Chan & Jet Li movies were faves, but Star Movies Chinese introduced me to so many others. After watching Gen-X Cops, I fell in love with the gorgeous actors and I’d see anything with Stephen Fung, Nicolas Tse, and Daniel Wu that was on, even ones without subtitles! Oh and also Takeshi Kaneshiro! But at some point, I couldn’t access Star Movies Chinese anymore. I don’t remember exactly if they became unavailable in our country or you had to pay extra for that channel. Whatever it was, it ended my love affair with Hong Kong Movies. Which is okay in a way, since I got too busy with life anyway. And then  Meteor Garden  happened. They showed it on a local channel and was Filipino dubbed. After that blew up, local channels started showing dubbed Taiwanese dramas. But it wasn’t easy to follow the series since it was on at aroun...

Bead Bangle

You may be wondering why I would give away this pattern for free when I can sell it. Well,  I'm really not so good with giving (and taking) written instructions. So to be fair, I only sell patterns that I can give accurate instructions on.  I rely mostly on pictures, I find them easier to follow. So hopefully the images I included helps too if my written instructions become too confusing. I had to use a dark background so the threads would show.  1.       Start with the basic netting technique. String in 147 pieces of seed beads. Pass the thread through the 6th bead from the last. 2.      String 5 beads then pass through the sixth bead from the previous row, repeat to the end. 3.      Leave 6 beads at the tail. String 8 beads then pass thread through fourth bead from previous row. Repeat until you have a total of 9 rows. 4.      String 8 beads then pass the thread through the 6th ...

JASPER - The Supreme Nurturer

BIRTHMONTH: March From the Greek word iaspi meaning “spotted stone”. Considered as a powerful healing stone that gives a sense of well-being and enables one to be more present in the physical body and conscious of Nature and one’s surroundings. Believed to protect and absorb negative energy. Brecciated Jasper from  https://www.crystalhealingforwomen.com/brecciated-jasper-bracelet/ LEGENDS & MYTHS  According to Norse legend, the magic sword of Siegfried the dragon slayer was inlaid with this gemstone. Egyptians believed the stone to be associated with Isis and was carved into amulets for the dead. There is also speculation it was actually red jasper (not ruby) that adorned the sacred breastplate of Aaron. ABOUT THE STONE Jasper is an opaque rock of virtually any color stemming from the mineral content of the original sediments or ash. Patterns arise during the consolidation process forming flow and depositional patterns in the original silica rich sediment or vol...
